Khayamiya workshop, Mamluk Desert, Cairo

In the beginning of 2026,  I organized a five-day workshop around the theme of the Egyptian textile technique khayamiya during the children’s winter camp of MASQ in the Mamluk Desert in Cairo. We talked about khayamiya, the children made their own designs, and together we painted a mural. In addition, tentmaker Ahmed Abdel Azim Muhammed taught the children the beginnings of the technique.

In collaboration with MASQ, Archinos Architecture, DUCO Egypt, and with the financial support from K.F. Hein Fonds.
